Only 500 cases were produced.  Every bottle is individually numbered and capsule neck tags have been hand applied.  Only the very best 100% new French oak barriques. Maturation time in this oak was two years. Out of the 200 barriques initially allocated to Blocks 13, 14 & 15 for maturation, 20 were individually selected by the winemaking team as being the, “Best of the best.” These 20 barriques were then blended, fined and minimally filtered prior to bottling in December 2005. This wine is brimming with super-ripe briary fruit notes and essence of vanilla and cedar from the oak influence. There is also that unmistakable hint of “wet forest floor”, which often defines a Margaret River regional character. The mouth feel is full-bodied with all that is on the nose flowing through on to the palate. The silky tannins give texture to the wine whilst the oak flavors are in harmony and balanced by the overt fruit nuances. Maximum cellaring potential under ideal conditions will be twenty-five years. The 2003 Sandalford Cabernet Sauvignon was a triple Gold Medal winner (Brisbane, Adelaide and WA wine shows).   The Prendiville Reserve assumes another level above these wines as they are blended after the selection process has taken place for the Prendiville Reserve.

The nose is absolutely typical of this single estate with the unmistakable scent of African violets lifting out of the glass. Some cassis but certainly the floral edge is atypical for Margaret River. The palate is full-bodied whilst at the same time maintaining a softness and approachability even in this wine’s youth. Hard to believe this wine has had two years in 100% new French oak barriques, which for mind gives weight to the power of the fruit. The citrus, cedary oak nuances are perfectly matched with the ripe fruit profile and careful cellaring will give the serious wine enthusiast a wine to cherish well in to the next decade or two and beyond.    The Estate Reserve 2005 Cabernet won Gold at the 2007 Royal Perth Wine Show. Since 2001 every single release of the Sandalford Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has been a Gold Medal winner at one or more capital city wine shows. Truly, a remarkable pedigree.  The Prendiville Reserve assumes another level above these wines as they are blended after the selection process has taken place for the Prendiville Reserve
