Lanzerac Vineyards

Famous internationally, not only for their wines but also for the 5 star restaurant and 5 star Hotel, set in magnificent surroundings.

The estate dates back to 1692 and currently focuses on the production of limited edition premier wines that uphold the tradition of excellence that Lanzerac has always maintained. We have selected 4 wines for our Cellar Selection from Lanzerac Estate.

Age of Vines: 9 years old
Alcohol Strength: 13.7% by volume
Total Acid: 5.4 g/liter
Residual Sugar: 2.4 g/liter
Soil: Deep gravel soil
Trellising: Perold system
Nose: Ripe, plumy red fruits on the nose
Palate: Plum, chocolate, caramel
Overall Impression: Full-bodied, complex wine with a beautiful fruit/wood balance and a good tannin structure that will allow it to age extremely well.
Aging Process: 9 months medium charred Nevers and Alliers French Oak.
Cellar Potential:Food With five to ten years’ maturation it will start to acquire the velvet density and luxurious chocolate and caramel flavours of its very early Lanzerac predecessors.
Suggestions: Malay Curry; Bobotie & Game.

Serve well chilled (or with crushed ice) as an aperitif. Most enjoyable with sorbet and vanilla ice-cream. Great in a Margarita replacing the Triple Sec.
Age of Vines: 8 years old
Alcohol Strength: 14% by volume
Residual Sugar: 2.9 g/liter
Acidity: 6.4 g/liter
Soil: Alluvial sandy clay, Red deep decomposed granite
Trellising: 5 Wire Perold system. Sufficient to accommodate the vigour of the vines and to ensure good distribution of shoots, leaves and bunches.
Nose: Excellent fruit with Bordeaux And chocolate overtones.
Palate: Inviting flavors of blackberry and youngberry with hints of cocoa, almond and vanilla
Overall Impression: Full-bodied wine with excellent balance between fruit and oak.
Aging Process: New, 2nd, and 3rd fill French oak barrels for a wood-maturation period of 24 months
Cellar Potential: Drink now or cellar for additional 3 years.
Food Suggestions: Roast beef, grilled lamb chops, casseroles and pasta!

50% Merlot; 27% Cabernet Sauvignon; Cabernet Franc 17%; Malbec 6% The four wines were individually made with grapes from the best vineyards on Lanzerac.

Soil: Deep, well drained red soils
Trellising: 5-wire Perold system. Sufficient to accommodate the vigour of the vines and to ensure good distribution of shoots, leaves and bunches
Nose: Layers of black and red berry aromas, hints of currant and cacao on the nose
Palate: Well-rounded amalgam of berries and chocolate on the palate that lingers on the aftertaste.
Overall Impression: Full-bodied, Merlot-based blend has deep color.
Aging Process: 18 months new French Barrels.
Cellar Potential: Drink now or cellar for additional 3 to 4 years.
Food Suggestions: Duck, Turkey, Roast Beef, Venison, Roast Lamb or simply to be enjoyed on its own.

The four wines were individually made with grapes from the best vineyards on Lanzerac. Very similar in style to the 2002. Both excellent wines. We will let you decide your preference.
