This lean site, at high elevation and planted on shale and limestone soils, produces deeply-colored, robustly flavored wines that display elements of saddle-leather and blackberry, with firm but supple tannins. The young wine was barreled immediately after pressing into a combination of 70% French and 30% American oak, 40% of which was new. During the 20-month residence in barrel, the wine was minimally handled, and it was bottled unfined and unfiltered in late summer of 2006. 352 cases produced.
